During my stay for an emergency admission for a bleeding ulcer, I found the staff, doctors, nurses, and techs, to be pleasant and helpful; that would have rated 5 stars. But several weeks later I contacted the hospital because my family physician had not received any of the records from my stay. I asked to speak to someone about my Patient Records, and someone, who shall not be named answered the phone. I told her what the problem was, and she said the doctor had been copied my records. I told her that "be that as it may, he has not received them." She snapped that she would resend them; I said thank you as she slammed the phone down. This rates a 1, or perhaps a 0; hence, the 3-star average. The administrative staff needs some interpersonal sensitivity training.

Medstar Montgomery definitely treats you more like a dollar sign than a patient in most cases. Unwilling to work with you even if you offer to pay your bills in full which is unfortunate - even if your bill is a few thousand dollars. I went in February to the emergency room while pregnant and you wait forever between each person you have to see and most of the employees will be impersonal.

My doctor now has my records.

I had two very different experences here, one during my admission and one after.

My 95 year old mother was brought to Montgomery a week ago after a bad fall. She had to have 10 stitches in her head, had a black eye, and was in great pain. They gave her a CAT Scan, establishing no brain injury, but not knowing if there was any concussion. They sent her home about 2 hours after she got there. Why they didn't keep a 95 year old woman with in this situation I can't understand. She has had care at home during the week since, and had a very rough time of it, but they had to bring her back today. If they had kept her in the first place, I have no doubt she would be in better shape. I wish she had been taken to a different hospital, but I had no say in it. In and out, that's all that matters to them. I am not a fan of Montgomery General.

I will say my experience in the labor and delivery unit was a lot better than the emergency room. The nurses seemed exhausted the three days I was there but they were all very nice and helpful. My experience with all of the OB/GYN doctors have been very pleasant.

While registering for my husband's surgery, Patrick, the Registrar, looked up and saw me and muttered, "Oh great, an OB case. This could take hours to register" because his computer was running slowly. The pre-registration process registered my husband as a female. I am a bit nervous about getting the surgery done now. I just hope the surgeon proves himself to be more capable than the staff. The 2 stars are for the Facility, which looks clean, neat and professional.

Medstar is the root of this hospital's problems! I worked there years ago and have heard from current staff how they've cut wages & staff, hiring new people with no experience. Zero emphasis on patient satisfaction, no follow up on complaints. Medstar's focus on $$$ only!
